What are the waste levy rates in Victoria?
Starting 1 July 2025, the metropolitan industrial, municipal and rural waste levies in Victoria are set to increase significantly, aligning with those of New South Wales and South Australia.
The increase was one of several measures introduced in the May 2024 Victorian State Budget, aimed at encouraging waste reduction and recycling, promoting resource recovery over landfill disposal, and supporting environmental programs through the reinvestment of levy funds. As noted earlier, waste companies, including Cleanaway, have no influence on the levy.
